Being originally from the area himself combined with his studies in Denmark instilled the need to a pply contemporary visual interpretations to some of these historical event s.\n The body of work undertakes an investigation into selected Viking incu rsions and activities in Britain 865AD to 1016AD predominantly in the Nort h East and East Anglia.  This period in Viking history is well documented in the Anglo Saxon Chronicles along with research undertaken by noted hist orians for their work during this era.\n Hexham\, the Abbey and surrounding areas have a strong historical association with the Viking presence durin g this period.
