Program Requirements
The Kindergarten and Elementary P茅dagogie de l'Immersion Fran莽aise major is designed to meet the needs of students enrolled in the B.Ed. Kindergarten and Elementary program who wish to teach in French immersion contexts. It consists of 30 credits of French and second language education courses embedded within the regular B.Ed. Kindergarten and Elementary program. In addition, certain other course sections may be offered in French.
Please note that graduates of teacher education programs are recommended by the University to the Quebec Ministry of Education for Quebec teacher certification. For more information about teacher certification in Quebec, please refer to the Faculty of Education section under "Overview of Faculty Programs," "Undergraduate Education Programs," and "Quebec Teacher Certification".
Competency in French
Students wishing to follow the Kindergarten and Elementary P茅dagogie de l'Immersion Fran莽aise major must demonstrate a high level of competency in French by providing proof that:
听 i.听 听 The candidate attended a French-language institution for high school and/or university in Canada or elsewhere in the world for at least four听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听consecutive years; or
听 ii.听 听 The candidate attended a French-language university in Quebec for at least three consecutive years; or
听 iii.听 听 The candidate completed secondary V in a French-language institution in Quebec as well as a DEC at a French-language CEGEP.
Otherwise, they must have successfully completed the French Language Placement Test (FLPT) at the French Language Centre (91丝瓜视频).听
P茅dagogie de l'Immersion Fran莽aise (PIF) Foundation Year (U0)
Students from outside of Quebec may be required to complete the Foundation-option en fran莽ais year (offered through the French Language Centre, Faculty of Arts). Students undertaking the Foundation en fran莽ais year may be accepted into the PIF program听by passing the 91丝瓜视频 Test de Fran莽ais Admission - PIF (TFA-PIF).

French Language Proficiency
Applicants to the Bachelor of Education Kindergarten/Elementary Education- P茅dagogie de l鈥檌mmersion fran莽aise (PIF) program who meet the academic admission requirements, must also demonstrate a high level of aptitude in French by passing the 91丝瓜视频 Test de Fran莽ais Admission - PIF (TFA-PIF).
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the applicant鈥檚 level of French meet the standards required for future PIF teachers. The 91丝瓜视频 PIF Admission Test consists of a written portion followed by an individual oral interview and is administered by 91丝瓜视频鈥檚 French Language Centre. Students who do not pass the test will be offered admission to the regular B.Ed in Kindergarten and Elementary Education program.

Students that accept their offer of admission will be sent orientation and advising information over the summer to prepare them for program entry.
