While prior research has examined dignity in data collection and use\, less is k nown about how concerns for dignity shape the design of personal data befo re any data are produced. Drawing on a year-long case study of a pronoun d ata design project at a U.S. university\, we use the CARE theory as a fram ework to analyze dignity tensions across three project phases. We find tha t designing personal data surfaced opposing logics between data[1]centered and dignity-centered approaches\, resulting in dignity disequilibria. A p rovisional dignity equilibrium was achieved only when the focus of design shifted from modeling data about people to configuring the linkages that c onnect data to the individuals they concern. We identify three such linkag es—stability\, authority\, and alignment—the configuration of which enable d opposing logics to be reconciled\, reaching a provisional equilibrium. O n this basis\, we conceptualize the personal data nexus\, a site where the linkages between data and people are configured\, maintained\, and adjust ed. Our study contributes to research on data design and personal data by shifting attention from designing data models about people to designing si tes where data and people are connected\, demonstrating how designing data for dignity can be carried out in practice.\n DTSTART:20260313T143000Z DTEND:20260313T160000Z LOCATION:Room B045\, Bronfman Building\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 1G5\, 100 1 rue Sherbrooke Ouest SUMMARY:Business & Management Research Centre: Sarah Lebovitz URL:/desautels/channels/event/business-management-rese arch-centre-sarah-lebovitz-371819 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
