Biography: 

As Assistant Dean, Strategy and Organizational Development, Dr. Ghassan El-Onsi works closely with the Dean and Faculty leadership to advance strategic initiatives, organizational effectiveness, and long-term planning across the Faculty's missions.

Dr. El-Onsi also serves as Director of the Student and Staff Dental Clinic, the Faculty's intramural dental practice, where he oversees clinical operations and development, and programs that support faculty engagement and academic talent retention. In addition, he serves as Associate Division Director of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, supporting the Faculty's educational and clinical activities in oral surgery and contributing to the development and delivery of clinical instruction that prepares students for modern practice.

Since joining 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ in 1999, Dr. El-Onsi has held a variety of academic and clinical roles at both the undergraduate and graduate level. As Assistant Dean, he contributes to key Faculty priorities, including the advancement of Horizon 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ initiatives that strengthen academic excellence and community impact, as well as the integration of innovative models of care.

Degree(s): 

Dr. Ghassan El-Onsi earned a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Immunology from 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ and began his dental education at the University of Michigan. He earned his DDS degree at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ and completed a General Practice Residency at the Montreal General Hospital.

Areas of expertise: 

Dr. El-Onsi's clinical practice is focused on dental implants and wisdom tooth surgery. His interests in wisdom tooth surgery center on creating positive, patient-centered surgical experiences through patient education and compassionate care that helps patients feel informed, comfortable, and confident throughout treatment.

In implant dentistry, he has a particular interest in advanced digital workflows and the use of dynamic 3D navigation systems that provide real-time interactive guidance during surgery, enhancing precision and treatment outcomes.

Dr. El-Onsi's leadership interests include organizational development, healthcare operations, workforce planning and clinical innovation. His work focuses on translating strategic vision into practical initiatives that strengthen organizational performance, foster collaboration, and support the Faculty's long-term growth and sustainability.
