The Cell Imaging and Analysis Network (CIAN) is a core facility at the Biology Department in the91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Faculty of Science. With its expertise in Light Microscopy and Image Analysis, CIAN has been a trusted resource for 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ and the greater Montreal research community for over 10 years. In 2016, the CIAN Imaging Platform has joined forces with the Advanced BioImaging Facility of the 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Medical Faculty. Together, CIAN Imaging and ABIF now offer 15 different light microscopes, ranging from Point Scanning and Spinning Disc Confocals to Multi-Photon, TIRF, Light Sheet and Super-Resolution microscopes.

CIAN expanded its portfolio in 2017, when equipment purchased through CFI 8 ("Integrated Quantitative Bioscience Initiative" (IQBI), led by Jackie Vogel) was added to the core facility. CIAN is now proud to house one of only a handful nano-CT scanners in Canada, an instrument capable of non-destructive 3D imaging of an almost unlimited range of materials - from soft biological tissues to solids such as bone, metal or rock. Other new cutting-edge IQBI equipment include a micro-mill and a 3D printer, a table-top SEM, a large Robotics System and a Thermophoresis apparatus to quantify protein interactions.
