Many studies indicating that DNA nanostructures can enter cells more readily than simple DNA strands are flawed, according to researchers at 91˿Ƶ. In a paper published in the American Chemical Society journal ACS Central Science, the 91˿Ƶ scientists demonstrate that many DNA cage nanostructures aren’t taken up by cells to a significant extent.

New study of brain neurotransmitter receptor has implications for drug discovery

Mutations in a gene involved in brain development have led to the discovery of two new neurodevelopmental diseases by an international team led by researchers at 91˿Ƶ and CHU Sainte-Justine Research Center.

The first clues about the rare disorder arose after doctors were unable to diagnose why two siblings from Québec City were experiencing seizures and neurodevelopmental deficits. Desperate, the children’s family turned to Carl Ernst at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute in Montreal for answers.
