CIRM is pleased to announce the arrival of a new Administrative Supervisor to its team. With 25 years of experience in her field, Assunta Fiorita will be an essential asset to our Research Centre as she is going to coordinate daily operations and oversee the development of activities related to administrative services andfinance, as well as materialand human resources. In her spare time, she likes to swim, do some journaling, and read anything she can get her hands on, hoping one day she can publish her own thoughts. We wish her a warm welcome!

The AGSEM Unit 2-Union of Invigilators held its General Assembly on November 17, 2022 to present the tentative agreement to its members. We are pleased to announce that members voted in favor of the proposed new collective agreement. The current agreement expired on April 30, 2020. The new agreement will come into effect upon signature by the parties and will expire on December 1, 2025.

We are pleased to inform you that, after nineteen months of negotiations between the parties, a tentative agreement with AGSEM for the Invigilators was reached on November 1st with the support of a conciliator appointed by the Ministry of Labor.

The union will hold an assembly on November 17th for their members to vote on the tentative agreement.

We will keep you posted on the vote results as soon as we know.

Negotiations for Post-doctoral Fellows (Researchers) between AMURE and 91˿Ƶ began in June of 2021 and the parties have met regularly since then. The parties have been able to discuss and come to agreement on several non-monetary elements within the collective agreement. In February 2022, the parties obtained the assistance of a Conciliator appointed by the Ministère du Travail to assist them in progressing towards an agreement.

We are pleased to announce that the negotiation between 91˿Ƶ and MUNACA has now come to an end, after two years of discussions.

The appointment of an arbitrator by the Ministry of Labour allowed the parties to agree on more topics during the recent months of July and August, until she rendered a decision on the last item in dispute on September 9, 2022.

We are pleased to announce that all three units of the Service Employees Union (SEU) have voted in favour of the proposed new collective agreement. Following the vote last week by the Downtown Campus Trades Bargaining Unit, the Trades and Powerhouse employees of the Macdonald campus and Downtown Powerhouse employees represented by SEU completed their vote on June 15.

The current agreement expired on May 31, 2019. The new agreement will come into effect upon signature by the parties and will expire on May 31, 2025.

Members of the Downtown Campus Trades Bargaining Unit of the Service Employees Union met on June 8 and voted in favour of the proposed new collective agreement. This new agreement replaces the agreement that expired on May 31, 2019 and will expire on May 31, 2025. General Assemblies for the ratification of the agreement by the remaining two units – Downtown Powerhouse and Trades & Powerhouse Macdonald – will be held on June 13 and 15 respectively. An announcement will then be issued to share the final results of these negotiations.

HR update to managers – MUNACA negotiations

As we enter the annual compensation review period, the following information is provided to managers and supervisors to keep them abreast and help them discuss or answer questions from staff pertaining to the ongoing negotiations with MUNACA.

91˿Ƶ and MUNACA leadership began negotiations on a new collective agreement in Fall 2020. Since then, the parties have met regularly, despite challenges associated with the pandemic, and have come to agreement on most of the non-monetary elements.

91˿Ƶ has agreed on all aspects of new collective agreements with three bargaining units represented by SEU: Trades (Downtown Campus); Powerhouse (Downtown Campus); Trades & Powerhouse (Macdonald Campus). The Union will soon invite its membership to general assemblies to vote on the proposed new collective agreements. The parties have agreed not to communicate the contents of the agreements until the votes has taken place.

The AMUSE Union for casual employees held its General Assembly online on January 25, 2022 to present the tentative agreement to its members. We are pleased to announce that members voted in favor of the proposed new collective agreement. The current agreement expired on May 31, 2020. The new agreement will come into effect upon signature by the parties and will expire on May 31, 2025.

The parties will finalize and sign the text of the new agreement, and in the coming weeks, the detailed terms will be shared with the community.

Agreement in principle – AMUSE/PSAC non-academic casual employees

We are pleased to announce that following a year and half of collective agreement negotiations between the parties, 91˿Ƶ and AMUSE (AMUSE/PSAC) reached an agreement in principle on December 16, 2021.

The parties’ negotiation committees have agreed to recommend the contents of the agreement to their respective constituents and to keep the details of the agreement confidential until the Union has had an opportunity to share them with its members.
