DESCRIPTION:The Institute of Comparative Law welcomes Franz Werro (Fribourg
 /Georgetown) who will examine questions of foreign Law in American Courts
 \nProfessor Dr. Franz Werro shares his life between the Faculté de droit o
 f the University of Fribourg (Switzerland) and Georgetown Law\, in Washing
 ton\, DC. He teaches and researches in different fields of private law\, i
 ncluding the law of obligations\, European private law and comparative law
 . He was a visiting professor at the Cornell Law School (Ithaca\, NY) and 
 at a number of European Law schools\, including the Universita degli Studi
  di Trieste (Italy)\, the Scuola Superiore Santa Anna in Pisa (Italy)\, th
 e University of Pau (France)\, the University of Bordeaux (France)\, the I
 nternational University College of Torino (Italy)\, and the Bucerius Law S
 chool in Hamburg (Germany).\nIn addition\, Professor Werro acts as an arbi
 trator and as a consultant in Swiss and in international commercial disput
 es. He is on the board of a number of Swiss and European law journals and 
 is involved in different projects of continuing legal education in Switzer
 land. He has recently published the second edition of his treatise on tort
  law\, a number of essays on the impact of EU law on national private law\
 , a monograph on European tort law\, as well as articles on comparative an
 d transnational legal studies. Professor Werro taught as a visiting profes
 sor at the Georgetown University Law Center in the fall semesters of 1999 
 and 2000. He has been a permanent member of the faculty at Georgetown Law 
 since 2001. In 2009 - 2010\, Professor Werro was a co-director for Georget
 own Law’s Center for Transnational Legal Studies\, in London.
