 \n(PGSS)\, we will be hosting a discussion on housing policies for\nFirst 
 Nation communities across Canada. We will be joined by the\nAssembly of Fi
 rst Nations’ Senior Policy Advisor on Housing and\nInfrastructure\, Dewey 
 Smith. He will give an overview on current\nhousing policy\, and answer qu
 estions to know why communities do\nwell\, and others do not.\n \n \nAbout
  Dewey Smith\n\n\n\nDewey Smith is a committed Aboriginal professional wit
 h\nextensive experience\, background and knowledge in all matters of\nhous
 ing\, both On and Off Reserve.  He has demonstrated an\nability to provide
  services in the development of concepts\,\nstrategies and policies that b
 uild the capacity of First Nation\npeoples\, communities and organizations
 .\n \nHe combines the professional elements of technical skill\,\nresearch
  and analysis proficiency\, concept and policy development\,\nand an in-de
 pth experience in all aspects housing management and\noperations.  He has 
 provided a balance of policy\, program and\nperformance that is connected 
 to the aspirations of the\ncommunities\, organizations and people that see
 k to develop\nsolutions to housing problems.\n \nHe is currently a Senior 
 Policy Advisor for the Assembly of\nFirst Nations where he provides analys
 is of current issues on\nhousing and infrastructure to the Office of the N
 ational Chief and\nthe AFN Housing and Infrastructure Secretariat.  This i
 ncludes\nstrategies for planning and building the necessary social\,\nfina
 ncial and technical that any First Nation needs to develop to\nachieve sus
 tainability.  The key to all of these efforts has\nbeen to facilitate the 
 exploration of the options and opportunities\ninvolved in making an inform
 ed decision on a future direction for\nFirst Nation green and sustainable 
 housing.\n
