DESCRIPTION:Astronomers at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ and the Université de Montréal
 \n(regrouped under the CRAQ) are joining the Montréal Planetarium to organ
 ize\na large viewing event for the Transit of Venus. It is a very rare\nev
 ent – the next one will only occur in 2117 – that results from\nthe perfec
 t alignment of the Sun\, Venus and the Earth.\nOn June 5th\, starting at 5
 :30pm\, professional and amateur\nastronomers will welcome the public and 
 share their telescopes with\nthe public for the viewing the Venus\, moving
  across the Solar disk.\nEclipse glasses will also be distributed to the p
 ublic for a safe\nobservation of the Sun. 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ grad students and post-do
 cs in\nastrophysics will be present to explain the details of the transit
 \nof Venus\, to answer questions attendees may have\, and to convey\ntheir
  passion for astronomy to the public. In addition\, we will\nalso provide 
 educative activities for the public (adults and\nchildren) to understand t
 he transit of Venus\, and more generally\nthe mechanics of the Solar Syste
 m.\nThis event will be held at the Université de Montréal (on top of the g
 arage Louis Colin)\, starting at\n5pm until sunset. We will continue to ob
 serve the sky and its\nwonder once the sky will be dark enough. In case of
  bad weather\, a\npublic lecture with a live stream will be presented indo
