The Neuro’s Neuromuscular Research\nGroup headed by George Karpati welcomed P aul with rich\nopportunities to apply his expertise in muscle cell biology to the\nstudy of neuromuscular diseases. Apart from his active research\n program\, which resulted in more than 70 publications\, Paul made\nsignifi cant contributions in teaching and in administration at the\nNeuro\, the U niversity\, and at the national level. As head of the\ngraduate program of the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery he\nmade major improvements\ , especially in graduate student stipend\nrequirements. At the university level\, he directed a global review\nof the graduate programs in the Facul ty of Medicine - a gigantic\nundertaking. Appreciation for Paul goes far b eyond his noteworthy\nrecord of service and professional achievement. Thos e who worked\nwith him treasure him as a superb colleague and friend. He i s an\ninfinitely kind and constructive man filled with a unique and\nrefre shing wisdom frequently expressed as insightful (and very\,\nvery funny) h umor. To say he will be missed after his retirement is\na great understate ment.\n\nBrief synopsis of Claudia Ugolik’s career\nClaudia has been a par t of the Neuro library\, and the Neuro\ncommunity\, for more than 40 years .   She has a wealth of\nexperience in library matters and has long been k nown throughout\nthe Neuro as the go-to person for locating difficult-to-f ind\noff-site documents. She was always resourceful and relentless in\nloc ating and recovering journals\, books and other documents that\nare not av ailable in the library (or in any of the 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ\nlibraries).
