This important lecture is named after an\nextraordinary wo man who\, together with her husband\, made immense\ncontributions to Canad ian education and science.\n\nThis year’s Dorothy J. Killam Lecturer is Dr . Lily Jan who is a\nProfessor of Physiology and Biochemistry at the Unive rsity of\nCalifornia in San Francisco. Dr. Jan has decades of expertise an d\nleadership in ion channel studies.  Her recent research\ninterests in n euronal function and development converge on the\nneuron's dendrites. Dr. Jan is a member of the National Academy of\nSciences and the American Acad emy of Arts and Sciences. She has won\nnumerous prizes and awards includin g the Ralph W. Gerard Prize and\nthe Edward M.
