 fulfilled the requirements under the will of James 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ to\nbenefit from
  his estate.  This exhibition looks at the events\nof that year - in Montr
 eal\, in Canada and in the world: work began\non the Lachine Canal\, the M
 ontreal based North West Company merged\nwith its arch rival the London ba
 sed Hudson's Bay Company\, George\nthe IVth was crowned king\, Napoleon di
 ed\, the Greek revolution\nbegan\, independence came to much of Spanish Am
 erica and the poet\nJohn Keats died.  These events and others are celebrat
 ed\nthrough portraits\, views and documents providing an eclectic view\nof
  the world into which the University was born.\nIn addition\, one section 
 of the exhibition is devoted to James\n91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ himself with portraits and b
 usiness documents from the\ncollections of Rare Books and Special Collecti
 ons.  As well\,\nthere are books from his library\, the plan and elevation
  of his\ntownhouse and a view of Burnside Place.\nThe 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Li
 brary is delighted to join with the rest\nof the University in celebrating
  our 190th birthday!\nExhibit runs now to June 1\, 2012\nAccessible during
