 s or were referred\nto specialized services. While there is an abundant am
 ount of\nempirical literature on the decision to place a child in foster\n
 care\, decisions to provide any support to the child and their\nfamily are
  only marginally studied. Using the CIS-2008\, results\nwill be presented 
 to fill that gap. Besides analyzing case\ncharacteristics\, models account
 ed for variance on the level of the\nagency serving the child. Several cas
 e characteristics were\nsignificantly associated with the odds of receivin
 g support\nservices. Although there was considerable variation of service
 \nreferral rates between agencies\, factors accounting for that\ndifferenc
 e remain largely unexplained.\n
