  will be kicking off the 2011-2012 series with a presentation\nby Fabrizio
  Cafaggi (European\nUniversity Institute\, Law Department).\nProf. Cafaggi
  will discuss how conflicting interests among\nprivate actors constitute a
 n important factor to explain why and\nhow transnational private regulatio
 n has grown and the\nproliferation of standards and standard setting organ
 izations that\nhas followed. He will discuss how his essay provides a map 
 of\ntransnational regulatory space suggesting that the different levels\na
 re related to various governance responses to conflicts within the\nprivat
 e sphere and between private and public actors.\nUndergraduate and graduat
 e students are welcome to attend.\n
