DESCRIPTION:Radha D'Souza will present a paper which\nreflects on methodolo
 gical questions in Third World Socio-legal\nStudies\, a field in search of
  philosophical foundations and which\ncontinues to rely on conceptual cate
 gories and analytical\nframeworks developed through the intellectual\, cul
 tural and social\nhistories of Western capitalist societies and projected
 \nuncritically on to different intersubjective orders in Third World\ncont
 exts.\nThis conference is part of the Annie MacDonald Langstaff\nWorkshop 
 series and is presented by Centre for Human Rights &\nLegal Pluralism\, th
 e Labour Law and Development Research\nLaboratory\, and the Human Rights W
 orking Group.\nAbout the speaker\nRadha D'Souza is Reader in Law at the Un
 iversity of Westminster\,\nLondon. She is in Winnipeg at present as the As
 sociation of\nCommonwealth Universities Research Fellow at the Department 
 of\nNative Studies\, University of Manitoba.\nHer research interests inclu
 de global and social justice\, social\nmovements\, Law and Development\, c
 olonialism and imperialism\, social\ntheory\, socio-legal studies in the '
 Third World' and water\nconflicts.\nRadha D'Souza teaches Law and Developm
 ent and has previously\ntaught in Sociology\, Development Studies\, Human 
 Geography besides\nPublic Law and Legal Theory.\nShe holds a B.A (Philosop
 hy\, University of Mumbai)\, an LLB\n(University of Mumbai) and a PhD (Geo
 graphy and Law\, University of\nAuckland). Radha practiced as a barrister 
 in the High Court of\nBombay and taught at the Universities of Auckland an
 d Waikato in\nNew Zealand before joining the University of Westminster. Sh
 e is a\nfree lance writer and social justice activist.\n
