DESCRIPTION:Dr Anne Sanders is an assistant lecturer at the\nUniversity of 
 Cologne and has been a law clerk at the Bundesverfassungsgericht\n(German 
 Federal Constitutional Court\, Karlsruhe\, Germany) since\n2009. She previ
 ously worked for the European Commission (2007) and\nthe Law Commission fo
 r England and Wales (2008).\nHer PhD thesis ('Contracts for Developing Rel
 ationships -\nvalidity and enforceability of prenuptial agreements\, artic
 les of\nassociation\, and partnership agreements') was published in\n2008.
  She holds an MJur degree from the University of Oxford\n(2005-2006) and r
 ead law at the Humboldt University of Berlin\n(1997-2002).\nHer research i
 nterests are primarily in family law (especially\nwith respect to its link
 s to the law of contract\, property and\nconstitutional law)\, comparative
  law\, charities\, and unjust\nenrichment.\nABSTRACT\nThe recent UK Suprem
 e Court decision of Radmacher v\nGranatino [2010] UKSC 42 has brought pren
 uptial agreements\ninto the focus of not only English family law\, but com
 parative law\ntoo.\nAlthough the majority of the justices considered irrel
 evant the\nquestion whether prenuptial agreements should be understood as
 \ncontracts\, the argument made here is that the different notions of\ncon
 tract in English and German law may help to explain why such\nagreements h
 ave not been enforced for so long in England and what\ncomparative contrac
 t law can learn from the notion of prenuptial\nagreements in the different
  legal systems.\nThis event has been accredited by the Barreau du Québec f
