 es'\, kicking off the Conference on Forced\nMigrations and their Human Rig
 hts Challenges.\nAbout the speaker\nDr. Jorge Bustamante (Ph.D.\, Universi
 ty of Notre Dame) is a\nMexican sociologist and a Eugene Conley Professor 
 of Sociology at\nUniversity of Notre Dame since 1986.\nDr. Bustamante has 
 published over 200 scientific publications on\ninternational migrations\, 
 with a focus on Mexican-United States\nmigrations. His research on interna
 tional migrations was awarded by\nthe President of Mexico with the 'Premio
  Nacional de\nCiencias' in 1998 and with the 'Premio Nacional de\nDemograf
 ia' in 1994.\nOn January 3\, 2005\, the Permanent Committee (Comisión\nPer
 manente) of the Legislative Power of México produced a\nresolution which w
 as voted unanimously to nominate Dr. Bustamante\nfor the Peace Nobel Price
 .  He has been selected as the 2007\nrecipient of the Cox-Johnson-Frazier 
 Award\, one of the two highest\ngranted to a sociologist in the United Sta
 tes. On October 26\, 2010\nthe Mexican Bar Association awarded Prof. Busta
 mante the National\nJurisprudence Award for his work in favor of the human
  rights of\nmigrants.\nThe lecture is open to the public and will be given
