 ange by bringing together a range of graduate\nstudents\, professors and a
 cademics from Canada and abroad.\nMedia@91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ is proud to co-sponsor this
  event\nThis year's symposium will seek to interrogate the value and\nstat
 us of what is indiscernible to direct experience. From the rise\nof nanote
 chnologies on the one hand to the overwhelming size and\ncomplexity of glo
 bal systems and networks on the other\, artistic\,\ntheoretical and daily 
 practices are confronted with realities that\nlie beyond immediate percept
 ion. Placed at the centre of artistic\npractice -- or even used as an inte
 rpretative prism for the tracing\nof lineages through the history of art -
 - the indiscernible offers\na valuable way of entry into discussions of th
 e invisible\, the\nblinding\, or that which lies beyond the realm of the s
 ensible at\nlarge. Similarly\, from the perspective of theoretical practic
 e\,\nopacity\, murkiness\, ambiguity\, and grey areas may be thought of as
 \nobstacles to knowledge\, yet we can also understand the\nindiscernible a
 s a necessary aspect of knowledge production. Thus\,\nwe may ask whether r
 evelation requires mystery\, or whether a will\nto action requires a poeti
 c yearning in the face of unfathomable\nconstraints.\nThe 2011 keynote lec
 ture will be presented by Dr. Brian Massumi\,\n'Sight Unseen: Perception's
