 megranate fruit (Punica granatum L.) has many\nbenefits for human health. 
 Prevention of cardiovascular diseases\,\ncancer\, diabetes and many other 
 diseases\, causes this fruit to be\nconsidered as a functional food. Not o
 nly the edible part of this\nmagic fruit promotes health benefits but the 
 peel and seed are also\nvaluable sources of bio-components like antioxidan
 ts. The origi...n\nof this ancient fruit lies in Asian countries like Iran
  and India.\nAt present\, however\, it is cultivated in many other countri
 es with\nhot and dry climate.\n\nRojyar Moshrefi was born in Tehran\, Iran
 \, where she completed her\nBachelor’s at Shahid Beheshti University in th
 e field of Food\nScience and Technology. After working for a few years in 
 the field\nof food science Rojyar decided to pursue her higher education\n
 outside of Iran. She left Iran for Sweden to obtain a Master’s\ndegree in 
 the field of Biotechnology. At present\, Rojyar is in her\nfirst year as a
  PhD student in the Bioresource Engineering\nDepartment under the supervis
 ion of Professor Raghavan.\n\n\nItem 2: Tiff-Annie Kenny\nThe Nature\, Ori
 gin and Future of Human Life\n\nAll human beings are comprised of the char
 acteristic carbon-based\nmolecular architecture of life. Yet\, to the huma
 n being\, the\ndefinition of what constitutes “life” may imply a more cogn
 itive\nand sentient experience. This presentation will explore the\nessenc
 e\, development and future of human life on earth.\n\nTiff-Annie Kenny is 
 originally from Northern Ontario but has since\nresided in Montreal to pur
 sue undergraduate studies in the\ndepartment of Bioresource Engineering. P
 resently\, Tiff-Annie is\nenrolled as an MSc. thesis student and is conduc
 ting a\nbiomass-heating study under the supervision of Dr. Mark\nLefsrud.
 \n\n\nItem 3: Hongyuan Deng\nThe Chinese Hot Pot\n\nThe hot pot is a Chine
 se cooking pot in which all kinds of food can\nbe cooked. It is very popul
 ar in most parts of China\, and is one of\nmy favourites. It Originated in
  China more than a thousand years\nago. It is usually infused with spices 
 and can meet many different\npeople's needs.\n\nHongyuan was born in Jingz
 hou\, a small town in the central part of\nChina\, located in Hubei Provin
 ce. He finished his undergraduate\nstudies in Evironmental Engineering at 
 Hubei University and is now\nworking on his Master's under the supervision
  of Professor Prasher\nin Bioresource Engineering.\n\n\nItem 4: Golmar Gol
 mohammadi\nModeling hydrology using SWAT\n\nIn the province of Quebec subs
 urface drainage is necessary for two\nmain reasons. First\, intensive crop
 ping of cereals\, forage\, and\nvegetables is practiced on heavy soils of 
 lower hydraulic\nconductivity. Second\, the cropland is quite flat and abs
 orbs large\namounts of precipitation. The hydrologic performance of DRAINM
 OD\nwas assessed for the southern Quebec region. The model was\ncalibrated
  using water table depth and subsurface flow data over a\ntwo-year period.
  DRAINMOD simulated the timing and magnitude of\nsubsurface drainage event
 s.\n\nGolmar Golmohammadi is a second year Ph.D student in Water\nModeling
 . Her project is about the development of a hydrologic\nmodel at a watersh
 ed scale. Her supervisors are Professors Prasher\nand Madani. She has also
  worked as a GIS and water resources expert\nin Middle East Water & Enviro
 nment and with Pars Ray Ab\nConsulting Engineers Company.\n\n\nItem 5: Yam
 una Sampathkumar\nFood Legumes – A boon to human nutrition\n\n“Pulses' or'
  Legumes' occupy an important place in human nutrition.\nHere I am going t
 o present an overview of Lentils - an ancient crop\nwhich is mainly used f
 or human consumption. I will highlight its\nimportance\, nutrition and exp
 loring new ways to include in our\ndaily diet. Discover a tasty\, nutritio
 us and versatile food.\n\nYamuna Sampathkumar was born in India where she 
 completed her\nBachelor’s of Technology degree in Biotechnology from SASTR
 A\nUniversity. Yamuna is currently in her second year as a Master’s\nstude
 nt under the supervision of Dr. Raghavan.\n
