 m\, North Carolina and Executive Director of\nthe North Carolina Center fo
 r South Asian Studies. She is is the\nauthor of The Goddess and the Nation
 : Mapping Mother India\n(Duke University Press\, 2010)\, The Lost Land of 
 Lemuria:\nFabulous Geographies\, Catastrophic Histories (University of\nCa
 lifornia Press\, 2004)\, and Passions of the Tongue: Language\nDevotion in
  Tamil India\, 1891-1970 (University of California\nPress\, 1997)\, and is
  also co-founder of a trans-national digital\nnetwork for popular South As
 ian visual culture called Tasveer Ghar\n(House of Pictures) (www.tasveergh
 ar.net)\nThe South Asian Religions Distinguished\nLectureship in the Facul
 ty of Religious Studies\, 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ\nUniversity\, was established to compleme
 nt the Faculty's strong\nundergraduate and graduate programs on South Asia
 \, and to encourage\npublic understanding of South Asian religions. It has
  been made\npossible by the generosity of Professor Robert Stevenson\, Pro
 fessor\nof Comparative Religion at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ from 1966 to 1991.\n
