 together in Music and Culture in Late Renaissance Italy\n(Oxford\, 2000)\,
  explore how the history of music is related to the\nhistory of society. H
 is most recent books are The Ceremonial\nCity: History\, Memory and Myth i
 n Renaissance Venice (Yale\,\n2007) and Piazza San Marco (Harvard\, 2009).
