In 1980's it emerged as an\nalgorithm for systems of linear differential equations arisen from\nthe semidiscretization of evolutionary PDEs. When applicable it\nexhibits dramatic advantage compared to the conventional\nt ime-stepping methods. More recently the Krylov subspace projection\nbecame the main tool for the construction of reduced order models\nfor large sca le linear time-invariant dynamical systems. We will\nguide through main al gorithmic details and analysis of the\napproach\, then discuss its general izations such as the Rational\nKrylov Subspace Reduction and the Parameter -Dependent Krylov\nSubspace Reduction (a.k.a. interpolatory projection) an d also\nconnection to some classical results from the approximation theory .\nThe talk will be illustrated with numerical examples from\nelectromagne tic oil exploration.\n DTSTART:20101122T210000Z DTEND:20101122T220000Z LOCATION:Burnside Hall\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 0B9\, 805 rue Sherbrooke Ouest SUMMARY:Krylov subspace approximations of large linear time-invariant dynam ical systems URL:/channels/event/krylov-subspace-approximations-lar ge-linear-time-invariant-dynamical-systems-168422 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
