 osaurs have undergone a remarkable renaissance in recent\ndecades. Far fro
 m being sluggish reptilian monsters doomed to\nextinction\, new discoverie
 s and new methods of scientific\ninvestigation have revealed dinosaurs as 
 complex\, highly active\nanimals capable of sophisticated behaviors and as
  one of the most\ndiverse and successful groups of land creatures in the h
 istory of\nlife on Earth.\nMy research team has studied in detail the anat
 omy and life\nhistory of\nMassospondylus\, a dinosaur that lived in what i
 s today\nsouthern Africa some 200 million years ago. Although not as\nvisu
 ally striking or as large as certain other dinosaurs\,\nMassospondylus is 
 unique among all dinosaurs in being\nknown from many excellently preserved
  skulls and skeletons. These\nremains\, along with the remarkable discover
 y of nests of this\ndinosaur — some containing eggs with preserved unhatch
 ed embryos —\nhas allowed us to reconstruct the life and times of this din
 osaur\nin minute\ndetail from an embryo all the way to a full adult\, a fe
 at unmatched\nin\nprevious dinosaur research. As such\, the tale of\nMasso
 spondylus serves as a case study for the ways science\ncan now bring ancie
 nt animals and\nenvironments back to life.\nFree\, everyone welcome. Seati
