 DP.  Without mineral processing\, we would not have\nthe base metals requi
 red for hi-tech operations.  However\, for\nall the importance\, the funda
 mentals are still not as well\nunderstood as they could\, or rather should
 \, be.  The majority\nof mineral processing techniques are a combination o
 f the\nphysico-chemical properties of mineral particles\, and the fluid\nm
 echanics of the system such as those found in froth\nflotation.  Unfortuna
 tely\, the answer to the question “Why do\nyou do this?” invariably comes 
 with the answer “It works” or\n'because we’ve always done this”.\nThis sem
 inar shows techniques recently utilized in order to\nattempt to improve th
 e understanding of mineral processing. \nThe emphasis will be on positron 
 emission particle tracking (PEPT)\nin froth flotation\, a technique that h
 as significant potential for\nuse in a wide range of mineral processing sy
 stems\, along with other\nmaterials engineering areas.\nProfessor Waters w
 ill also introduce other areas in which his\nresearch will evolve over the
  years at 91˿����Ƶ.\n
