 ex diseases\, especially cancer\,\nmay lie in grasping their mechanisms at
  different levels of\nbiological hierarchy. While much research currently 
 concentrates on\nunderstanding how various genes cause cancer from within 
 a cell\,\nmuch can be learnt from studies on what happens between cells\, 
 and\nin their relations to their surroundings. In this regard\, cancer\nce
 lls are not only ‘antisocial’\, but also exhibit a ‘gang culture’\,\nwhere
 by they act in concert to achieve certain pathological ends.\nThis is illu
 strated by ‘coercion’ of normal tissues\, such as blood\nvessels or bone m
 arrow\, to collaborate with the tumour cell group\,\nand in ‘corrupting’ i
 nfluences within it. These influences are\nexerted through several means o
 f abnormal cell-to-cell\ncommunication\, one of which is sending cancer-ca
 using proteins\n(oncoproteins) toward other cells in a form of structures 
 called\nmicrovesicles. The latter can trigger aberrant behaviour of\nother
 wise non-aggressive cells\, which makes them a part of the\ndisease proces
 s. The challenge is to learn more about and from\nmicrovesicles\, and ulti
 mately block the ‘siren song’ of cancer\ncells.\n\nOrganized since 2003 wi
