D r Robert Savage\,\nAssociate Professor in the Department of Educational an d\nCounselling Psychology and a William Dawson scholar at 91˿Ƶ\, has\nbe en involved with education as a teacher\, a psychologist\, and\ncurrently as a researcher. His research focuses on the basic\ncognitive processes of literacy\, and other projects including early\nintervention programs for children who struggle with reading. “In\nmy view\, the research we do and the products we construct are for\npublic consumption\,” says Dr Savage. “ I think on the research side\,\nreal progress has been made in understandi ng the process of how\nchildren learn to read.
