DESCRIPTION:Dr. Gary Dell will give an invited lecture entitled 'Implicit\n
 learning in the language production system as revealed by speech\nerrors: 
 Some studies within an emerging framework in\npsycholinguistics.' Dr. Dell
  is professor in the University of\nIllinois at Urbana-Champaign Departmen
 t of Psychology\, as well as a\nfull-time faculty member of the Beckman In
 stitute Cognitive Science\ngroup.\nPsycholinguistics is traditionally desc
 ribed as the study\nof comprehension\, production\, and acquisition\, with
  the\nunifying theme being that these three abilities are informative\nabo
 ut the role of grammar in linguistic performance. An\nemerging framework w
 ithin modern psycholinguistics has a\ndifferent view on the unity of the '
 psycholinguistic trinity\,'\none that is based on the relationship  betwee
 n processing and\nlearning. I review this framework generally\, and exempl
 ify it\nwith our group's recent research on the learning\nof phonotactic-l
 ike constraints in experimental settings.\n \n
