However\, the resolution was rather poor \,\npreventing to draw any firm conclusions. Phylogenomics\, with the\nava ilability of large sets of sequences\, is usually expected to\nincrease th e resolving power of molecular phylogenetic inference\,\nleading potential ly to fully resolved tree. Unfortunately\, numerous\nphylogenomic trees of animals have been recently published and not\nonly resolution is often po or and but also results are regularly\ncontradictory. I will explore the r easons of these apparently\ndeceiving results:\n(1)   Inadequate selection of sequences\n(non-orthologous sequences\, saturated genes).\n(2)   Inade quate taxon sampling\n(3)   Inadequate tree reconstruction method. When mo re\nand more data are considered\, although stochastic error vanishes\,\ns ystematic error becomes more apparent. Such errors are due to the\nimperfe ction of models of sequence evolution.\n(4)   Rapid diversification of ani mal phyla (Cambrian\nexplosion). Lack of resolution is generally interpret ed as evidence\nof closely spaced speciation events. Molecular dating may allow to\ntest this hypothesis.\nIn conclusion\, I will present my view on the phylogenetic\nrelationships of animals.\n \n DTSTART:20090312T220000Z DTEND:20090313T003000Z LOCATION:Leacock Building\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 2T7\, 855 rue Sherbroo ke Ouest SUMMARY:Monbug Seminar URL:/channels/event/monbug-seminar-105161 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
