She leads a team of international researchers who cond uct\nfact-finding investigations into human rights abuses in countries\nth roughout sub-Saharan Africa\, and publish reports that expose\nabusive gov ernments and actors to the world. From 2004-2007\, Ms.\nGagnon was Deputy Director of the Africa Division of Human Rights\nWatch (HRW). Prior to joi ning HRW\, Ms. Gagnon held the post of\nDirector of Human Rights for the O rganization for Security and\nCooperation in Europe (OSCE) Mission to Bosn ia and Herzegovina\nbased in Sarajevo.\nMs. Gagnon has also documented the human rights impact of\ntransnational companies operating in conflict zon es\, such as Sudan\nand the Democratic Republic of Congo\, and proposed me chanisms to\nhold them accountable for the human rights consequences of th eir\nactivities. She has co-authored several reports and a forthcoming\nbo ok on natural resource development\, conflict and human rights.\nMs. Gagno n has also served with the United Nations in Afghanistan\,\nBosnia and Her zegovina and Rwanda and worked with the Canadian\nInternational Developmen t Agency on projects to strengthen human\nrights and the rule of law in Ch ina and India.\nShe was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1986 and in 1998\n obtained her LL.M with Distinction in International Human Rights\nLaw from the University of Essex in the UK. In 2003\, Ms. Gagnon\nreceived the Hon ourable Walter S.
