DESCRIPTION:Building on the two highly successful Symposia held in Halifax
 \nin 2006 and in Edmonton in 2007\, this Symposium will consolidate\nour d
 evelopment from an information-sharing and planning exercise\nto an expand
 ing forum for meaningful review of teaching\,\nscholarship and analysis of
  rapidly emerging developments in the\nfield of legal ethics\, both in the
  academy and in the legal\nprofession itself. It is an informal gathering 
 of teachers and\nscholars in this area from law faculties across the count
 ry.\nThe 3rd Symposium comes at a critical time for legal ethics\neducator
 s\, both in terms of the increase in professional interest\nin the subject
  matter and in the degree of teaching and scholarly\nactivity in the field
  in Canada. There has been a tremendous\nincrease in jurisprudence in the 
 field lately\, and the profession\nhas taken a renewed interest in Legal E
 thics and Professional\nResponsibility instruction in law school and withi
 n the legal\nprofession itself.\nWe have planned sessions that will addres
 s and investigate\nrecent important developments in the field\, including
 \n\na pre-conference session dealing with recent developments on\nthe subj
 ect of conflicts of interest\,\na workshop focused around a newly publishe
 d national casebook\nin the field\,\nthe US experience with legal ethics t
 eaching and scholarship\nand\nperspectives of the judiciary and the legal 
 profession relating\nto legal ethics teaching and scholarship.\n\nOur inte
 ntion is also to discuss the significance of various\nexternal factors rel
 ated to legal education\, including the\nimplications of law school rankin
 gs\, and their impact on the\n‘ethical environment’ of law schools.\n
