DESCRIPTION:The Faculty of Education is pleased to announce its annual Awar
 d\nfor Distinguished Teaching\, to be presented at the Spring 2009\nConvoc
 ation.\nPurpose of the Award\n\nHonour excellence in teaching over a perio
 d of years\nAcknowledge distinguished teaching in all forms\, from large\n
 lectures\, seminars and tutorials\, thesis and student teacher\nsupervisio
 n\nRecognize commitment to the development of excellence in\nteaching at M
 cGill and beyond.\n\nEligibility\nThis award is open to all full-time acad
 emic staff in the\nFaculty of Education.\nNomination Procedure\nIndividual
 s (students\, graduates or faculty members) wishing to\nmake a nomination 
 (of self or other) should do so by completing and\nsubmitting the attached
  nomination form to the Chair/Director of\nhis/her Department/School by Fe
 bruary 1\, 2009.\nThe award will recognize excellence in teaching in one o
 r more\nof the following areas:\n\nclassroom teaching\nmentoring and super
 vision (supervision of student teachers\,\ninternships and graduate studen
 ts\, etc.) and\neducational leadership (work on curriculum projects\, inno
 vative\ninstructional development\, consultation with colleagues on\nteach
 ing\, conducting seminars or workshops on teaching and learning\ntopics\, 
 research/publications on teaching).\n\nDeadline\nThe completed nomination 
 form must be submitted to the Chair of\nthe Department by February 1\, 200
 9.\nSelection Procedure\nThe department head will forward the nominations\
 , together with\nrecommendations\, to the Dean's Office by February 15\, 2
 009. The\nnominations will be reviewed by the Human Resources Management\n
 & Development Committee. The name of the successful candidate\nwill be com
 municated to the Secretariat Office by March 31\,2009.\nThe award will be 
 presented at the Spring Convocation.\n
