  an\nethical community? This question rests at the heart of Professor\nMar
 garet Somerville’s research. Her articulate and forthright\napproach to co
 mplex social problems has made her one of the world’s\nmost recognizable e
 thicists. Now she’s turning her sights toward\nuniversities where\, she be
 lieves\, a plague of political correctness\nhas descended\, threatening ou
 r ability to honestly and respectfully\ndiscuss controversial issues. Plea

 n values to unite our\nincreasingly multicultural societies.\n\nMargaret S
 omerville is a professor in both the Faculty of Law -\nwhere she holds the
  Samuel Gale Chair - and the Faculty of\nMedicine. In addition\, she was t
 he founding director of the 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ\nCentre for Medicine\, Ethics and Law. 
 She continues to be active in\nthe global development of bioethics and in 
 the study of the wider\nlegal and ethical aspects of medicine and science.
  She is widely\npublished and has been an invited speaker at numerous inte
 rnational\nconferences on ethical and legal aspects of science and society
 . In\n2004\, she was named the first recipient of the UNESCO Avicenna\nPri
 ze for Ethics in Science and delivered the CBC’s 2006 Massey\nLectures. Sh
