 chologists\, teachers and parents. Given the\nopportunity to seize the cam
 era and the mic\, to shoot first and to\ndirect the action\, youth tell st
 ories and share perspectives not\ncaptured by youth experts and authoritie
 s.\nAs the means and methods of communication change\, new\nopportunities 
 arise for meaningful intergenerational dialogue.\nWhile much attention is 
 paid to frivolous and hurtful\nmanifestations of youth voice - the goofy a
 ntics of YouTubers and\nthe mean-spirited actions of cyberbullies - the po
 werful\,\npassionate examples of contemporary youth media expression go\nl
 argely unnoticed in the public sphere.\n\nIntended for the general public\
 , this interactive session brings\ntogether academics\, community activist
 s\, media specialists and\nyoung media producers to explore how youth-made
  and youth-led media\ncan change our perceptions of youth culture and life
  in a rapidly\nchanging world.\n\nLed by Michael Hoechsmann and Bronwen Lo
 w\, authors of Reading\nYouth Writing: New Literacies\, Cultural Studies a
 nd Education\,\nthe panelists will explore a range of youth-made and youth
 -led\nmedia productions\, including older (film\, video and radio) and\nne
 wer (remix and mash-up) forms. Their goal is to share ideas\,\nchallenge c
 onventional assumptions and identify new paths for\nfuture discussions in
