 ility.\nIn the last few years\, using the new concepts of metamaterials an
 d\nphotonic crystals\, physicists and engineers have begun to show how\nwe
  might achieve invisibility for real\, and have made some\nexperimental de
 monstrations of electromagnetic cloaking. Come learn\nhow it works and fin
 d out whether you might one day own an\ninvisible car or cloak like Harry 
 Potter’s!\nAndrew Kirk\, Director of the 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Institute for Advanced\nMa
 terials\, is an Associate Professor and William Dawson Scholar in\nthe Dep
 artment of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He conducts\nresearch in n
 anophotonics\, photonic crystals and integrated\noptoelectronic systems\, 
 and has made significant contributions in\nthe fields of optical communica
 tions and optical biosensors. He’s\n91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ’s only two-time winner of the P
 rincipal’s Award for\nExcellence in Teaching – although he says he still h
 as moments in\nthe classroom when he wishes he had a cloak of invisibility
