 ed a short story\ncollection\, 'Night Driving'\, in 1987 and his work has 
 appeared in\n'Atlantic Monthly'\, 'Tin House'\, 'Saturday Night'\, 'The Wa
 lrus'\,\nand the 'National Post'\, and in Best Canadian Stories and Best\n
 Canadian Essays.\nPhilip Slayton studied law at Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar
  and\nclerked at the Supreme Court of Canada. He was a law Professor at\nM
 cGill\, then Dean of Law at the University of Western Ontario.\nLeaving ac
 ademia\, Slayton joined a major Toronto law firm and\nworked on many of th
 e biggest corporate and commercial cases of the\ntime. His bestselling fir
 st book\, 'Lawyers Gone Bad: Money\, Sex and\nMadness in Canada’s Legal Pr
 ofession'\, was published last year.\nRecently\, Slayton was a visiting pr
 ofessor of law at the University\nof Cape Town in South Africa and worked 
 at a pro bono legal clinic\nin one of the city’s black townships. He has b
 een a contributor to\nthe 'Globe and Mail'\, the 'Literary Review of Canad
 a' and 'Canadian\nLawyer' magazine\, among others.\nJan Wong\, BA’74\, was
  Beijing correspondent for the 'Globe and\nMail' from 1988 to 1994. She fi
 rst went to China in 1972 at the\nheight of the Cultural Revolution as one
  of only two Westerners\npermitted to enroll at Beijing University. In 198
 9\, she dodged\nbullets in Tiananmen Square\, fought off a kidnapping atte
 mpt and\ncaught the Chinese police red-handed driving her stolen Toyota as
  a\nsquad car. Her first book\, 'Red China Blues: My Long March From Mao\n
 to Now'\, made 'Time' magazine’s top ten list in 1996 and is still\nbanned
  in China. She also wrote 'Jan Wong’s China: Reports from a\nNot-So-Foreig
 n Correspondent' (1999) and published a collection of\nher famous 'Lunch W
