Learners will go over basic vocabulary related to disability\, accessibility\, and ableism\, th en will be introduced to foundational aspects of the  Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework. They will then  unpack inaccessible scenarios a nd apply their learnings with the lens of UDL in academic spaces to find w ays to navigate them. Both the virtual and in-person learning sphere is co nsidered in this workshop.    Learning Objectives: - Identify and eliminat e barriers to participation in academic settings - Define and recognize UD L and its approaches in academia - Optimize access to information by apply ing UDL to virtual and in-person communications   Register here! Teaching and Learning Services (TLS) and Our Shared Spaces (OSS) are committed to p roviding educational content that is accessible to as many audiences as po ssible\, regardless of ability. In the COVID-19 context\, our workshops ar e provided via Zoom with automatic transcription enabled. Our PowerPoints go through an accessibility-checker\, and if instructions are provided\, t hey are given verbally and via written text. We provide content warnings t hroughout the workshop as needed. As a participant\, you will have ample o pportunity for varied engagement\, some examples are via the Zoom chat fun ction\, breakout rooms\, listening\, and verbally in the larger group.
