  on civil law.\nAbstract\nThe speaker will trace the evolution from Roman\
 , Ancien Regime to the Civil Code of Lower Canada under which the law of m
 andate and the office of a testamentary executor was based on bienfaisance
  or acting gratuitously to art. 1300 CCQ\, which flips the paradigm on its
  head in Quebec. Essentially\, selflessness is now replaced with self-inte
