IPLAI Great Trials Lecture Series @ Westmount Public Library
The Institute for the Public Life of Arts and Ideas and the Westmount Public Library, in collaboration with the Centre for Continuing Education, will host a lecture series considering a collection of history-making trials across time to examine the social and political contexts in which they took place as well as their cultural consequences. 鈥楲aw鈥� happens as much outside the courtroom as it does within it. Each of these pivotal events stands as testament to the ways in which constructions of authority, law, and justice have informed cultural consciousness across centuries.
Six lectures (every other Tuesday) by 91丝瓜视频 Faculty will focus, in turn, on the Trials of Socrates, Thomas More, Shylock, Oscar Wilde, Nikolai Bukharin, and Slobodan Milosevic.
