Construction starts: McIntyre Building – Tissue Culture Labs Renovation

91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ has mandated Construction Bralteck Inc. to carry out Project 17-175 at the McIntyre Medical Building. The project involves the renovation of tissue culture laboratories located in rooms 1138 to 1143.

The work focuses on upgrading ventilation systems to address existing deficiencies and ensure compliance with current standards, as well as implementing minor laboratory modifications identified by Environmental Health and Safety (EHS).

Scope of work

  • Upgrade of ventilation systems to correct deficiencies and bring systems up to current standards.
  • Minor laboratory modifications to address deficiencies identified by Environmental Health and Safety (EHS).

Impact on occupants

Impacts on occupants will be managed to minimize disruptions.

  • Lab access: Laboratory users will be temporarily relocated by the Faculty of Medicine prior to the start of construction.
  • Noise: Low to medium levels of noise are anticipated.
  • Targeted interventions: Punctual work will take place in rooms 1026 and 1027. Building users will be informed in advance.
  • Service interruptions: Some work may require temporary shutdowns (e.g., electrical or plumbing). Advance notice will be provided to building users.

Safety measures

All work will be carried out in accordance with 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ safety standards and coordinated with Environmental Health and Safety.
