Why\, how and why not?”\n Q&A moderated by HBHL Scientific Director Alan Evans\n\n\nSecure your spot to day!\n\n\nSpeakers\n\nManuela Ferrari\, PhD\n\nProf. Manuela Ferrari is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at 91˿Ƶ and a researcher at the Douglas Research Centre in Montreal. She is an exp ert in the use of digital technologies and interventions for improving men tal health service delivery to young people. Her research program seeks to optimize digital mental health assessment\, treatment and capacity buildi ng\, focusing on promoting user-led research designs and participatory res earch. Her work integrates local knowledge and cultural values while promo ting mental health literacy\, particularly in under-resourced or marginali zed settings\, and supports more ethical\, accurate and destigmatizing med ia portrayals of mental health. She was awarded a Fonds de recherche du Qu ébec-Santé (FRQS) Chercheurs-Boursiers (Research Scholar Junior 1 and Juni or 2) and the Healthy Brains\, Healthy Lives (HBHL) New Recruit Start-Up S upplements grant. Dr. Ferrari's research is supported and sponsored by pro vincial (FRQS) and federal programs (SSRCH\, CIHR\, NRC)\, as well as phil anthropic foundations and partners (National Bank of Canada). \n\nLena Pal aniyappan\, MD\, PhD\n\nDr. Lena Palaniyappan is a practising psychiatrist \; he works with youth and families experiencing severe mental illnesses s uch as psychosis. Following his Bachelor’s degree in psychology\, he compl eted his medical training at Stanley Medical College in Chennai\, India\, followed by a Master's and PhD in Psychiatry at the University of Nottingh am in the UK. He currently holds the Monique H. Bourgeois Research Chair a nd directs the Centre of Excellence in Youth Mental Health at the Douglas Research Centre. He is also the Chief Editor of the Canadian College of Ne uropsychopharmacology Journal. His work on neuroimaging in psychosis led t o the Global Rising Star Award from the Schizophrenia International Resear ch Society (SIRS) and a Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Earl y Career Foundation Grant. His research program is geared towards optimizi ng long-term mental health outcomes and pathways of care for individuals w ith serious mental disorders that often start in adolescence.
