Biography:

My research at the intersection of climate science and geophysics examines how interactions among ice sheets, oceans, and the solid Earth drive regional sea-level change and reshape coastlines. By integrating geophysical modeling, satellite observations, and field measurements, my group improves projections of sea-level rise and coastal change.

Understanding the impacts of sea-level rise on coastal populations, infrastructure, and water systems requires more than physical projections alone. Rising seas increase flood risk, accelerate shoreline change, and drive saltwater intrusion into aquifers, wetlands, and surface waters, while land uplift in northern regions alters drainage and freshwater availability. Quantifying these interconnected risks demands collaboration across geophysics, hydrology, engineering, and policy.

By translating Earth system science into regionally specific projections and working across disciplines, our research supports evidence-based planning and resilient water management—advancing BRACE’s mission to foster integrated solutions to water challenges in a changing climate.
