From state censorship to other forms of erasure\, gendered\, racialized\, and queer bodies have long been banned\, concealed\, disciplined\, and ren dered silent by the institutions that govern cultural production: the chur ch\, the party\, the publishing house\, the archive\, and the algorithm.\n \nWe understand “censored bodies” in several overlapping senses: the body censored through explicit prohibition and suppression\; the body silenced by dominant discourses without the need for a formal ban\; and the body in the archive\, where questions of preservation\, absence\, and loss determ ine which lives are recorded and which are forgotten. Across these registe rs\, the conference asks how writers\, filmmakers\, journalists\, artists\ , women\, queer\, trans\, and other marginalized cultural producers have w orked against silencing\, and how the humanities might recover\, read\, an d re-politicize what has been censored.\n\nWe welcome proposals from gradu ate students and early-career researchers across the humanities and social sciences\, including literary and cultural studies in any linguistic trad ition\, political science\, history\, gender and sexuality studies\, media studies\, digital humanities\, translation studies\, and related fields. \n\n\n Keynote speakers\n\n\nAriadna Molinari Tato\n\nLiterary translator a nd educator\, National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM)\n\nKeynote · Friday\, 16 October 2026\n\nAriadna Molinari Tato is a literary translato r and educator based in Mexico City. She studied English Literature and ho lds an MA in Comparative Literature from the National Autonomous Universit y of Mexico (UNAM)\, where she has taught literary translation since 2008. She has translated more than one hundred books for Penguin Random House\, Planeta\, Océano\, and several independent presses\, with authors ranging from Joyce Carol Oates and Hilary Mantel to Shirley Jackson and George R. R. Martin. Her award-winning work spans Aphra Behn and the landmark femini st anthology This Bridge Called My Back. She coordinates academic activiti es for the Mexican Association of Literary Translators (Ametli).\n\n \n\nP hilip Tuxbury-Gleissner\n\nAssociate Professor\, Trinity College Dublin\n \nKeynote · Saturday\, 17 October 2026\n\nPhilip Tuxbury-Gleissner is Asso ciate Professor at Trinity College Dublin\, where his research takes inter disciplinary approaches to East Central European and Russian culture in th e twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Educated at the University of Kiel and Princeton University\, he previously held a professorship at The Ohio State University. His work engages periodical studies\, digital humanitie s\, queer studies\, media studies\, and migration across literature\, film \, print culture\, and social media.
