Maurice Riley Case

Title: Associate Director, Black Inclusion, Success and Strategic Initiatives

Maurice holds an MEd from York University, where his research focused on abolition and reform in the education system. His work critically examined how institutional efforts to address anti-Black racism in education can inadvertently obscure the rich plurality of Black identities and experiences. Maurice’s commitment to institutional transformation in education is driven by a desire to remove systemic barriers for Black students, staff, and faculty. Grounded in anti-oppressive research and scholarship, his approach emphasizes creating learning and working environments that reflect experiential knowledge and foster collective action. Before joining 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ, Maurice served as the Instructional Designer for Inclusive Pedagogies and later as the Manager of the Black Perspectives Office at Concordia University. Prior to relocating to Montreal, he spent 12 years as a high school teacher and three years as an Instructional Coordinator for Black Student Flourishing with the Peel District School Board in Ontario. Maurice holds a Bachelor of Education (BEd) and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from the University of Toronto.

Antoine-Samuel Mauffette Alavo

Title: Black Student Affairs Liaison

Antoine-Samuel Mauffette Alavo (BA ’07) joined the equity team as Black Student Affairs Liaison. In this role, Antoine-Samuel is responsible for connecting with and supporting Black students across 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, to ensure that their needs and interests are communicated effectively to the University and addressed in a timely and effective manner. Antoine holds an MA in International Studies from Université de Montréal. He has worked as a Liaison Officer and Field Studies Officer with 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ’s Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Science. He also worked as a coordinator for the Côte-des-Neiges Youth Center. Antoine wants to help all Black students reach their full professional and academic potential and connect with the Montreal Black community.

Iyman Ahmed-Leblanc

Title: Outreach Advisor for Black Community

Iyman is the Outreach Advisor for Black Community at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ. In this role, Iyman works closely with schools, community organizations, and internal partners to strengthen pathways to higher education for Black youth and to advance mentorship and outreach initiatives aligned with 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ’s equity commitments. Iyman has over a decade of experience in higher education, equity-driven programming, and community engagement. She has worked at Duke University, UNC-Chapel Hill, and 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ, where she led initiatives expanding access for underrepresented students. She has worked in management and organizational consulting, supporting corporations, universities and nonprofits with program development and strategic engagement and communication. She holds a Master of Arts in Political Science and has completed graduate coursework in Islamic Studies at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ.
