Efforts to design effective therapies are crippled by our lack of understa nding the molecular lesions and aberrant processes that lead to disease pa thogenesis. While several new players in ALS pathogenesis have recently em erged\, RNA binding proteins\, such as TDP-43 and hnRNP A1\, have become a primary focus. However\, little is understood about how these proteins in teract and/or coordinate RNA processing and metabolism. RBPs such as TDP-4 3 and hnRNP A1 are both mutated in familial ALS cases and mislocalized int o cytoplasmic aggregates in the motor neurons of affected patients. In the case of TDP-43\, cytoplasmic inclusions are accompanied by a depletion of nuclear TDP-43. It is our hypothesis that mislocalisation of TDP-43 disru pts physiological functions within the nucleus. We will examine the downst ream consequences of nuclear TDP-43 depletion of various cell biological m echanisms.'\n\nwww.mcgill.ca/anatomy/seminars\n\nSEMINAR POSTER\n DTSTART:20170222T163000Z DTEND:20170222T173000Z LOCATION:Strathcona Anatomy and Dentistry Building\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H 3A 0C7\, 3640 rue University SUMMARY:Seminar - Dr. Christine Vande Velde (UdeM) - 'Cell biological mecha nisms of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis' URL:/anatomy/channels/event/seminar-dr-christine-vande -velde-udem-cell-biological-mechanisms-amyotrophic-lateral-sclerosis-26541 9 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
